Emirates has revealed a new look for its Boeing 777 aircraft ahead of its first flight.
The first nose-to-tail cabin refresh has completely revamped the business class and premium economy class cabins and will debut later today on a flight to Geneva.
It took a total of 37 days and 18,000 man-hours for a complete round-the-clock revamp of the aircraft which enters service four days ahead of its original scheduled deployment.
A timelapse video of the retrofitting process shows just how much has changed on board.
The Emirates Boeing 777 entered refurbishment in early July, with a planned reconfiguration of the aircraft to make way for a new premium economy cabin.
Another 80 of the aircraft will be retrofitted as part of the airline’s investment of more than Dhs11 billion in products that improve the customer experience on-board.
In addition to the Geneva flight from Dubai, Emirates is set to deploy its upgraded Boeing 777s with new-look cabins flying out to Tokyo Haneda and Brussels in the next few weeks.
The airline has also revealed that the aircraft type will serve more destinations which will be announced in the near future.
The new premium economy cabin is made up of 24 seats set in three rows in a 2-4-2 abreast layout with cream leather seats and wood panel finishings across the cabin.
Seats are capable of reclining 8 inches and are equipped with 6-way adjustable headrests to make your flight as comfortable as possible.
In business class, you’ll find 38 seats in a 1-2-1 layout and seats feature a padded headrest, personal mini-bar, table for dining and working, charging outlets and more.
The new-look cabin also includes a small bar where passengers can grab a mid-flight drink and snack.
And the new economy class cabin features 256 seats in a colour palette of soft greys and blues. The ergonomically designed seats also include full leather headrests with flexible side panels that can also be adjusted vertically for optimum support.
The airline has earmarked 191 Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft for a full facelift as part of the largest known retrofit programme the industry has seen in scale and size.
Once the project is complete, the airline will have installed 8,104 next-generation Premium Economy seats, 1,894 refreshed First-Class suites, 11,182 upgraded Business Class seats and 21,814 Economy Class seats.
Emirates currently operates its refurbished aircraft to New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo, Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Geneva and Dubai.
